April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 in 1995) started her journey in music as a 7th grader in which she began guitar and piano lessons. In the seventh grade, April began taking piano and guitar lessons. It sparked her interest in writing songs. The singer spent much of her time at 14 making songs and practicing the piano. Then, in the following months, April began traveling with her father and write at home in NY as well as LA. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer with an ever-growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia together, and is also a lifestyle expert. Lockhart was never born with a left hand, and that is what makes her the person she is. However, that's not the full story. Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't ignore her disability. However, it doesn't emphasize the issue. It's a reminder. It's important to keep in mind that each of us has numerous faces. Our identities vary and we are much beyond our body. Lockhart in a video messages from his Nashville home, says that I do not want this to define me. I'm more than my physical self. This doesn't influence my day-to-day life. I carry on doing my job as normal and have come up with different ways of adapting. It's an integral element of my life therefore it's important that we talk about it. Lockhart encourages us to keep going with self-acceptance. Still she admits she's gone through phases with her body, at times, feeling insecure to wear particular types of clothes showing off her arms. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and happily shares pictures of her dressed in her favorite outfits. Self-love, according to her, is like a journey. "I believe that you will ever be in that place," she said. However, I believe that's the case for everyone, whatever the source of their anxiety. I believe that it's really vital to surround yourself those who can identify and feel your heart.
